A colony is a persistent workspace for a goal. It contains the conversation, plan, results, and automation associated with that work. Its queen can work directly or assign pieces to workers. You do not need to create the agent team manually to start a task.

Create a colony

Describe the goal from New Chat, deploy a prompt from the prompt library, or use the create control beside Colonies in the sidebar. Use a separate colony for a different objective. Continue in the same colony when correcting output, adding context, or asking for the next step of the existing task.

Know when to intervene

Working means the queen or workers are executing. Your turn asks for a response or intervention. Idle means nothing is running. Hover over the indicator for details and inspect Automation → Workers when progress is unclear. Read the result before treating a run as complete. An idle colony can mean the work finished, or simply that it has no current execution.

Reuse the work

A colony’s persistence lets you return to its context and results. Repetition still needs an explicit request or a schedule. Local work also requires an available runtime; see Local and cloud work.
