Download the available build for your computer from open-hive.com. Use the download page to confirm which operating systems and architectures are currently offered. The packaged app includes the runtime setup process. You do not need a development checkout, Node.js, or npm for normal use.
  1. Download the .dmg matching your Mac’s architecture, when a choice is offered.
  2. Open it and drag OpenHive into Applications.
  3. Launch OpenHive from Applications and follow sign-in and setup.
If macOS reports a damaged or unverified download, get a fresh copy from the official download page. Do not disable system security to force an unverified copy to run.

First-run setup

Keep an internet connection available while OpenHive prepares its runtime. A cold setup can take several minutes. Show details on the startup screen helps distinguish a download in progress from an error. Later launches can reuse installed dependencies, but an update or a changed runtime may require preparation again. If setup is interrupted, reopen the app and inspect its status; you do not need to delete your workspace.

Updating

Quit OpenHive before installing a newer release. Install the new version using the same platform workflow, then reopen it and confirm you are in the expected workspace. App files and workspace data are stored separately. Updating the app is different from deleting its application-data folders. Avoid deleting workspace folders as a troubleshooting shortcut.
