Browser tools let a colony work with website pages through a connected browser session. Use this when your task needs a website rather than a direct API connection.

Connect the local browser

  1. Keep OpenHive running.
  2. Open the Hive Browser Bridge listing from the browser connection badge or a skill’s Browser badge.
  3. Install the extension in the browser profile you intend to use.
  4. Return to OpenHive and check the browser status.
  5. In that browser profile, sign in to any website required by your task.
Open Hive Browser Bridge in the Chrome Web Store Selecting the Browser badge opens the extension listing; it does not complete installation or website sign-in for you.

Test access

Start with a task that only reads a public page:
Check the page and result before running a workflow inside a signed-in service. The browser badge can show the active page for the selected agent; make sure it is the page you expect.

Local and cloud browsers

A colony deployed to the cloud uses a different execution environment. Open its cloud view to check browser access and sign-in; connecting your laptop’s extension does not establish every cloud website session. See Local and cloud work.

Before automating actions

Specify the account, pages, allowed actions, and stopping point in your task. Configure action limits where applicable, and review the site’s usage rules. Browser automation acts through the permissions of the signed-in account.
